Apologies yet again!!!

I know. I'm sorry :-S.

Twitter has my heart now...it's so much quicker to update on mon téléphone portable. (By the by, if you would like to follow me on twitter *pretty please do* it's @cakediddly )

But here I am. So what's new? Well, quite a lot really!! Of course, I've been doing a bazillion (ok, maybe not that many) different cakes....and I've even had some orders from random customers at the Parrot!! Amazing :) So here's a few of those bad boys....

So I decided to make a birthday for the Butchers Hall (see photos from April 2010), and the Gotto's were all absolutely thrilled and rather speechless when I presented it to them. (*yay*) It promptly went on display, and was devoured the next day! I was pretty proud of this cake, I have to say. And big thanks to the parentals for making the table base for me :D

It's a butcher's block, btw....
These are some rather nice cupcakes...that I finished this morning (and ate 2 today already)

Mother Leedham's birthday cake - a replica of her *favourite* handbag (can I say it's a Mulberry?), complete with gold zip..

Ridiculous commission - 12inch chocolate cake with the recipient's favourite things...it was very well received, the mum even phoned me a week later to tell me how much they all loved it!

Topsy-turvy birthday cake :D

Another commission, normal sized this time! I had no idea who the cake was for (male, female, young or old) so tried to make it pretty for anyone!

So, that was cake stuff!!

Art-wise, things are also stirring (I know, about time!!). Myself and some of the artyfartyparty from Uni are arranging not one, but two exhibitions for 2012!! First runs for a month from February, up in 'The Jam Factory' in Oxford (really great space!!). I don't have time to do anything crazy, so I'm printing some photos on perspex (although, I still haven't decided which ones.....) The second will run in the summer, and I'm planning something sculptural for that one!! (Very excited!!) I will do a proper blog about them soon....but it's getting late and I don't want to bore you.

So...that's it for now. If I've left something out please lemmee know!

TTFN.

(Happy now, dad?)

Naught Vikki

Just realised how seriously slack I've gotten with my poor ol' blog...seems I've gotten in the habit of updating just about everything else in my digital life except this!

So here's the juice (what does that even mean?!)

I am still nuts about cake. Seriously. I think I might need counselling or something. So, utilising my obsession, I have (a) expanded my repertoire to include gum paste topper (oh so fiddly yet fun to make) and cake pops (YUM) *see pics* and (b) made a website! Yes indeedy O.

Aka www.cakediddly.com

Seeee, it even has it's own domain name aaaannnddd email address. We're also on twitter (Royal 'we'), so you can follow 'us' @CakeDiddly.

Enough words, time for pictures.

Teehee.

Some tasty cake pops (Oreo flavour!)

And I completely forgot to mention this *crazy* cake I made for daddy-dearest.

This is my loopy cat in cake form.

Et voila. Sorry to have neglected you *pats on head*

Birthday....

Completely forgot to put this cake up! Apologies for the crap photography - I was late home from work and had to assemble the cake (and get myself ready for a night out) before hurtling back out again. Photos were somewhat of an after thought....

Top bow and label are made from Gum Paste...wish I'd made the front bow from Gum Paste too as it looks a bit clumsy. But everyone seemed to be very impressed, and it tasted yummy too.

Carrotcakediddleycake

Second attempt at a lily (this time I decided to actually look at a lily for inspiration) - looks so much better...rather proud if I do say so myself!

Annnnd a first attempt at carrot cake (yes, I have never baked carrot cake before...shocker). I can't remember what carrot cake actually tastes like, but apparently mine are good (according to my carrot cake connoisseur buddy). They smelt like Christmas when they were cooking - quite a lot of spices involved! But anyway, here they are. Check out my new stand - better for bigger cakes than my gorgeous cupcake tree.

Planning another big cake next week...

Some More Creepy Crawlies...

Mama Spider on her nest.

Just chilling on the kitchen floor (before being removed before the cat ate it..)

Oooooo look at her eyes!

Some Slightly Questionable Flowers....

Hmm. These aren't amazing - I'm (partially) blaming the heat in our studio which melted pretty much all my bits.

But anyway, here's a couple of orchids & a poppy. Definitely on the list of remakes! On the plus side, a couple of the ladies were complimenting my new stargazer lily (to be assembled).

Rather wonky.

This one is definitely better than the purple one.

A bit too fluffy, I think I'd better give it a haircut!

Check out my sugar skillz...

Finished sugar flowers. The rose leaves are a bit of a questionable colour...rush job mixing the colour. But I am rather pleased with them all - especially the lily (again, totally made up the colours - I'm in the process of making a Stargazer lily). The stamen are made by sprinkling the paste with cinnamon - makes very realistic pollen (even if the flower does now pong!).

Tomorrow night we are moving onto orchids, poppies and sweet peas.
