Carrotcakediddleycake

Second attempt at a lily (this time I decided to actually look at a lily for inspiration) - looks so much better...rather proud if I do say so myself!

Annnnd a first attempt at carrot cake (yes, I have never baked carrot cake before...shocker). I can't remember what carrot cake actually tastes like, but apparently mine are good (according to my carrot cake connoisseur buddy). They smelt like Christmas when they were cooking - quite a lot of spices involved! But anyway, here they are. Check out my new stand - better for bigger cakes than my gorgeous cupcake tree.

Planning another big cake next week...

Some More Creepy Crawlies...

Mama Spider on her nest.

Just chilling on the kitchen floor (before being removed before the cat ate it..)

Oooooo look at her eyes!

Some Slightly Questionable Flowers....

Hmm. These aren't amazing - I'm (partially) blaming the heat in our studio which melted pretty much all my bits.

But anyway, here's a couple of orchids & a poppy. Definitely on the list of remakes! On the plus side, a couple of the ladies were complimenting my new stargazer lily (to be assembled).

Rather wonky.

This one is definitely better than the purple one.

A bit too fluffy, I think I'd better give it a haircut!

Check out my sugar skillz...

Finished sugar flowers. The rose leaves are a bit of a questionable colour...rush job mixing the colour. But I am rather pleased with them all - especially the lily (again, totally made up the colours - I'm in the process of making a Stargazer lily). The stamen are made by sprinkling the paste with cinnamon - makes very realistic pollen (even if the flower does now pong!).

Tomorrow night we are moving onto orchids, poppies and sweet peas.

Saweeet.

If you don't like spiders....

Now, I'm not the biggest 8-legged fan. But somehow, with a camera between me & the creepycrawly, it doesn't seem so bad. My parents found this nest this morning, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a look.

Creepy as hell, but fascinating.
